Web Design
If you've ever tried to find a listed price for a web design project before, there's a reason you didn't get a straight answer. In short, the pricing of every web design project will be comprised from a number of factors like; overall project size, desired capabilities of the website, the desired goals of the client, the designers experience, the designers skill and the designers demand.
So how do you know your getting a fair price? And what can you expect to get in return for how much you're willing to spend?
If you're looking for a quick answer, a seasoned, professional, designer, or web design agency, will typically cost anywhere between $2,000 to $15,000 depending on the type of work you need. For any work involving eCommerce, you can expect those numbers to be between $4,000 & $25,000. Ongoing hosting costs for these type of websites will usually start at $25 to $300 per month.
But here, we like to break down the way web design projects are priced into three tiers to answer those questions.
As a quick note before we get into the pricing tiers, it's worthwhile to note that building your own website with a common web builder, like Squarespace or Wix, will always be the cheapest option, with costs starting at $0 (Free) + $20 to $300 per month. The below list is assuming that you want something the average person is not capable of, and meaning you're looking to hire a designer.
Flat Price Range: $500 to $2,500
What you can expect: Who doesn't love a bargain, right? In this tier you can expect to get a static html website with 1-2 pages, with one of those pages being a page with a contact form. What's a static website? You can think of static websites as a digital business cards, outlining some brief information while also providing a method of contact for visitors. If you're planning on doing something in the future with the domain you own, this can be a way of have something present while you plan, or save up, for bigger and better things.
What type of designer will do these: Typically the only designers you'll find offering work in this price range will be new ones with limited experience or freelancers you can find on marketplaces like Fiverr or Upwork. While there is definitely nothing wrong with being at this level, as a client you will want to adjust your expectations for any work that costs less than $3,000.
Price Range: $3,000 to $6,500
What you can expect: This is where you can start to expect quality work that holds up it's own when compared to other websites. The perfect tier for most people wanting to start a blog, host any type of content, or launch an eCommerce business.
What type of designer will do these:
